Residential landscaping case study: Lilleshall

Customer required updating their swimming pool area to be a more practical space, initial intende to be a natural pool softening the complete area from being the traditional fibre glass pool, to an area to enjoy while their family enjoyed the natural pool, on reflection of the first concept design they realised this was still not going to be low maintenance area & enjoyed regularly; so the new design created a sunken seating area within the space.

This entailed back filling the fibreglass pool with land drain systems & gravel with a float switched pump as the pool could not be removed due to water table and amount of retaining needed. Camouflaging the fibre glass pool with internal retain walls covered in stone cladding, sections clad with millboard decking set vertically to follow the contours of the curved sides disguised the complete area creating a terraced garden with a lower seating area paved area mid-level of planting bringing in a simple stream style water fall adding sound and motion.

The existing Timber Gazebo flooring was re-surfaced with Millboard vintage deck over hanging a section of the garden with ornate railing giving a connection to features at the house. The upper garden area had pavior sett pathways flowing around the space connecting to an upper seating area overlooking the complete area.

The space has given the customer plenty of enjoyment from many different aspects from sitting out with visiting friends to sitting reading a book and most of all still giving family siblings a space to run around the different linking pathways to the garden surrounding.
